The flow of knowledge and talent into the economy is becoming more and more important. Universities are becoming leading players in supporting businesses locally, regionally and nationally, so we’re in a great position to help your businesses draw on public funds.
With the governmental Kickstart Innovation funding scheme, SMEs are entitled to Innovation vouchers worth £3000 to use with us. Over the last 18 months we’ve worked with 20 SMEs to help bring their innovative ideas to life.
We work closely with the Technology Strategy Board (TSB), the UK’s national innovation agency, which invests in the development of new technology-based products and services for future markets and The Centre for Defence and Enterprise, which supports innovative ideas with the aim of improving the UK’s military.
As well as supporting businesses in accessing public funds, we also have links with local networks of investors such as the Mercia Seed Fund, Central Business Angels and Midven.
Putting in a grant application will involve working in partnership with Staffordshire University. Usually businesses will be expected to match such funds, however, we can advise you on a number of options to offset the costs of developing your ideas and bringing them to the marketplace.
The Regional Growth Fund is just one of the areas in which we’re working with external funders, Stoke-on-Trent City Council and the Local Enterprise Partnership, to support local businesses to prosper and grow.
