The core focus of the Clinical Psychology team is on the provision of training for Clinical Psychologists. The programme is very much a part of the local clinical psychology community and encourages full mutual participation between the programme and local NHS services.
An important strand running through the curriculum is the impact of society and context upon psychological well-being and the programme has a particular emphasis on early intervention, evidence-based practice and reflective practice.
All Clinical Psychology trainees are closely supervised by expert clinical academics and they learn about the whole process of research from idea, design, execution and dissemination. This results in a vibrant research culture which produces work with real-world impact.
The team also offer a one year full time postgraduate diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and are able to provide bespoke short courses.
