Thank you, Chloe, for your contribution.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Generation Lost In Satellites<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are the generation<br \/>\nthat got lost in satellites.<br \/>\nCaring more about comments<br \/>\non our social media than the fact<br \/>\nthat an empty packet of<br \/>\ncrisps can kill the environment.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re restless.<br \/>\nWe have no wars to fight,<br \/>\nStonewall has been rioted.<br \/>\nWomen got the vote.<br \/>\nThe Bastille has been stormed.<\/p>\n<p>We are the restless generation.<br \/>\nWe have nothing to do.<br \/>\nThere\u2019s nothing left for us to do.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re just sat on this<br \/>\nfloating rock, drifting in an infinite<br \/>\nloop until the sun expands<br \/>\nand we all burn.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re restless.<br \/>\nThere are no new worlds left to conquer,<br \/>\nEverest has been climbed.<br \/>\nSlavery was abolished.<br \/>\nThere are footprints on the moon.<\/p>\n<p>We are the restless generation.<br \/>\nWe have nothing to do.<br \/>\nThere\u2019s nothing left for us to do.<\/p>\n<p>But that\u2019s not entirely true&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Now we face a new foe,<br \/>\na new enemy to be vanquished.<\/p>\n<p>Now we have a war to fight,<br \/>\none we fight together.<br \/>\nWith doctors and nurses on the front line,<br \/>\nwhile everyone else is told<br \/>\nto stay inside.<\/p>\n<p>This time there are no evacuees,<br \/>\nno bomb shelters to hide in,<br \/>\nno air raid sirens to listen out for.<\/p>\n<p>Although the industries have been revolutionised,<br \/>\nthere is still lots of work to do.<br \/>\nwith new vaccines, a ray of hope,<br \/>\na light at the end of the tunnel.<\/p>\n<p>But we are just the generation<br \/>\nthat got lost in satellites.<br \/>\nWho cares more about comments<br \/>\non our social media than<br \/>\nwhether or not we<br \/>\nshould say please and thank you.<\/p>\n<p>What do we know?<br \/>\nWith the world on pause,<br \/>\nand the stock market a minute away from crashing,<br \/>\nthe queue to the jobcentre is<br \/>\nlonger than the list of jobs available.<\/p>\n<p>But we are just the generation<br \/>\nthat got lost in satellites,<br \/>\nwhat do we know?<\/p>\n<p>We live in a world that revolves<br \/>\naround diet plans and phone updates,<br \/>\nwhere nobody can say what<br \/>\nthey mean in fear of offence.<\/p>\n<p>But we are just the generation<br \/>\nthat got lost in satellites.<br \/>\nWho cares more about comments<br \/>\non our social media than<br \/>\nwhether or not we meet<br \/>\nwith people outside in real life.<\/p>\n<p>Chloe Birchall, March 2021<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are publishing work from our students for World Poetry Day on March 21st.
