Introducing Jonathan Disley our new Academic Practice Learning Manager

Hello all! I am really excited to have joined the team in the School of Life Sciences and Education.

As Academic Practice Learning Manager my role is all about our graduates’ employability skills. I am working with local, regional and national employers to support the development of work-experience placements for our students. We know from feedback and academic performance that our students value work placements and what they offer in terms of employability skills and opening up opportunities. Many have said their work placement has set them up on successful and previously undiscovered career pathways.

I bring to Staffordshire 22 years experience of working in education, teaching in Secondary and Further Education, and most recently in the area of Quality and Professional Development.

We are looking to create new partnerships with alumni and local employers in order to expand our work placements for our students.  If you are a local employer or alumni, please get in touch, as there is so much more we can achieve together in this area.

You may wish to consider supporting us by offering a practice learning placement for 2017-18.  We are currently seeking work experience based placements suitable for Psychology and Biological Science students on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes lasting for a period of 4 weeks or longer (105+ hours), 6 months or full year (sandwich programmes).

If you would like further information, please telephone the Practice Learning Office on (01782) 294169 or e-mail
