Finally everything has arrived

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Sorry for the long gap in updates but all our devices have arrived and are being road tested by the Games team.

Stu with the Fast-E iPad and Deej with his own

The iPad arrived this morning, as if it knew I was coming back from my holiday! It’s lovely but hampered by an inability to connect to airnet.

We’ve got all the devices  (iPad, iPod, Kindle & Sony E-Reader) in our office C160 if anyone else wants to come road test them.

Shopping Trip!

So we’ve spent our money and everything’s on order (I know this seems late in the day but it will be fine – it took forever for us to have a cost code then they sat on the wrong desk for a week (>_<)

Anyway – winging their way to my office are the following:

Unconference agenda

You should just be able to see our session, entitled FAST-E ‘Digital Marking in the New Millienium!!!’ [Soon to be changing it’s name to iSubmit]. We kept it all pretty informal, true to the spirit of the unconference and I think it went pretty well. the best thing of all was finding out that other people were trying similar things – Health & Geography mentioned they’d been using tablet PC’s and other people were talking about using the digital drop box etc.
Bobbie & Nia
What was surprising was how stuck some people seemed on technology they were familiar with – and being very cautious, understandably I suppose, in trying new things – if it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Luckily we’re here to attempt to break things for you! Maybe our willingness to try new things spans from the technology and software we use for everything else – with software updates every 6th months on some programs are we just a little more adaptable?

It was a really good day, a good chance to catch up with a lot of the things that are happening, and there’s a lot of people working in the field, putting their own time, and in some cases money to try out new technologies and new methods of working.

Talking of money the cost code for Fast-E / iSubmit has come in, so it’s time to start building a shopping list of toys … sorry devices to test…
