Research with impact
Research excellence is central to our vision and strategy of being the Connected University. We are making a significant investment in our research activity with the aim of building on our areas of research excellence. The first stage of this investment is 18 new research-led appointments to be advertised in summer 2017. Further investment in strategic appointments to support research excellence will follow.
We are also reviewing our research structure. The first stage of this process was the formation in January 2017 of our new Institute for Research and Knowledge Exchange (IRKE), led by Professor Marc Jones. The Institute provides support for academic staff in achieving research excellence, as well as maximising and tracking the impact of this research. It offers a central co-ordinated support service for income generation and project delivery across a breadth of activities. The Graduate school, which supports the research student journey, is also located in the Institute.
Our research underpins the curriculum, contributes to a positive student experience, makes a difference in society, and grows the reputation of the region. We are committed to discovering new knowledge and delivering real benefits to public and private sector industries, the economy and society. You can find our research outputs by visiting our online repository.
