BOCCIA COACHING AWARD

Course Date and Time: Saturday 4th December 2021 from 11,00am -2.00pm

Are you interested in expanding your coaching knowledge, understanding and delivery in Boccia. If the answer is yes. Then we have an exciting opportunity for you to get involved in where you will not only gain Boccia Leaders Award to help you on your coaching journey but also have the opportunity to gain valuable experience delivering Boccia within the community and local SEN/mainstream schools in the area.

I have five free places available for Staffordshire University students who have a keen interest in this area and are willing to give up an hour of their time per week (up until April), to delivery as a group, within local schools in the area.

The Boccia Leaders Award features both officiating and coaching boccia. Attendees will learn the basic rules of the sport and how to apply them in a game setting. The coaching element of the workshop introduces attendees to the importance of being a good leader, how to design and adapt boccia activities. Throughout the workshop, attendees will be given the tools to introduce boccia to their clubs and groups while motivating participants to get involved in the sport.

This workshop is a first look at the sport and designed for those with little or no knowledge of boccia. Those who are currently volunteering at boccia clubs but have no formal qualifications will find this workshop to be a great way to refresh and confirm knowledge while providing the skills to progress onto the coaching or officiating qualification pathways.

The Boccia Leaders Award covers the following topics: –

  • Boccia basics – An introduction to the sport
  • Officiating a game – A look at the rules and how to apply them
  • Boccia players – An overview of disability awareness and classification
  • Coaching boccia – An introduction to creating skills and practices for boccia.
