MULTI-SKILLS LEVEL 2 IN SPORTS COACHING

Multi-skills Level 2:

As part of Staffordshire University Coach Ed programme we are hosting a Multi Skills Level 2 in Sports Coaching, that is due to take place over the 3 dates stated below.

Course: Multi-Skills Level 2 in Coaching Sport

Dates: Saturday 24th Feb, Sunday 25th Feb and  Saturday 7th April.

Cost: £120 for the first 10 candidates and £210 for the remaining 10 candidates.

Course Content:

This qualification is designed to provide benefit to you through the skills and knowledge required to enable you to understand participants and their needs, develop your knowledge of multi-skills development in sport and prepares you to demonstrate practical coaching skills in the context of the fundamentals of movement, fundamental movement skills and fundamental sports skills. The qualification is composed of a single mandatory unit.

The qualification is recognised as the industry standard level 2 qualification for multi-skills development in sport by UK Coaching. It is also recognised by and has the support of a range of providers.

 

CREATED Academy

CREATED Academy is a provider of alternative education offering academic and vocational courses in specialised subjects: Sport, Music, Art and Design and Creative Digital Media for young people aged 13-16.

CREATED has been established to push the boundaries of what is possible in the learning experiences for young people, meeting their academic and individual needs. We specialise in subjects such as Construction and Production of Music, Creative Digital Media, Sports Coaching and more delivered by high quality experienced tutors and practitioners who have a wealth of knowledge and teaching expertise.

The programme will be mainly practical, hands on learning, giving the students the skills they need to find the right path on to sustained learning, further education and work, in a positive, creative and safe environment.

Students at CREATED will be given the opportunity to engage with local communities, schools and outreach projects through work experience and volunteering opportunities with local businesses and youth projects. They will gain important and transferable skills, knowledge & confidence in specialist sports coaching, youth work, business enterprise, music project management and film making.

Service User Description: Students referred to CREATED are likely to have been permanently excluded from their school, be at risk of exclusion from school or have a number of behavioral/attendance issues.

Part Time Teaching Assistant Job Role

We are looking for University Student Candidates to assist in the classroom delivery of BTEC Sport Award Level 2 qualification and support in transporting students to external sports sessions off site. Candidates will be currently studying a Sports qualification (essential) and will have completed a Sport qualification at BTEC, GCSE or equivalent level (Advantage). Candidates will be required to assist the senior tutor in the classroom to deliver BTEC course work and sports theory and complete a small amount of admin and assessment sheets. Students use external sports facilities to complete their practical work at local Sports Centres including, Fenton Manor, Dimensions, Michelin and Northwood Stadium. Candidates will also be required to support in the transport of the students to and from these venues.

It is essential that the successful candidates have a full clean driving license and will also have to complete a full DBS working with children check. Working hours are from 9.30am to 2pm Monday to Friday

The role is on a part time basis until July 2018

Sports Coaching Internship Meeting 30th Nov

Our Sport Coaching Internship meeting is designed for students looking to gain valuable experience by shadowing our experienced coaches within a school setting.

Students will coach in groups, planned around gaps in their academic timetables.

The meeting with cover:
1. The role and its responsibilities.
2. What you will gain from being apart of the internship.
3. Our partners involvement (ASM, Staffs FA) and what they require.
4. What next for those who want to be involved.

The meeting will take place on Thursday 30th November from 5.30pm till 6.30pm in room BG045.

Sports Coaching Internship Meeting

ENGLAND HANDBALL AND ENGLAND DODGEBALL ACTIVATOR COURSE

These two separate courses take place on the same day (Saturday 25th November), from 10am till 4pm at Sir Stanley Matthews Sports Centre (Staffordshire University Sports Hall). The cost of the course is £60 for both, with the registration deadline being the end of play on Tuesday 28th November 2017.

HANDBALL:

Developed by StreetGames and England Handball, the workshop provides learners with game ideas and the basic rules of handball in order to introduce the sport to people in their community.

Participants combine their existing coaching and leadership skills and experience with the games and challenges in the workshop to learn how to engage young people in handball for the first time.

By the end of the workshop attendees will be able to: understand handball and the fundamental skills needed to play; deliver basic handball activities to groups of young people; understand and apply basic rules for informal handball games; and organise handball challenges and social competitions.

Who is it for: Community sport project leaders, coaches and volunteers

Course prerequisites: There are no compulsory pre-requisites for this workshop. It offers the chance to build on skills previously gained through courses such as the Sports Leaders UK Level 1, 2 and 3 awards; national governing bodies of sports awards; and youth and community qualifications.

DODGEBALL:

Developed by StreetGames and UK Dodgeball Association, the workshop provides learners with game ideas and the basic rules of dodgeball in order to introduce the sport to people in their community.

Participants combine their existing coaching and leadership skills and experience with the games and challenges in the workshop to learn how to engage young people in dodgeball for the first time.

By the end of the workshop attendees will be able to: understand dodgeball and the fundamental skills needed to play; deliver basic dodgeball activities to groups of young people; understand and apply basic rules for informal dodgeball games; and organise dodgeball challenges and social competitions.

Who is it for: Community sport project leaders, coaches and volunteers

Course prerequisites: There are no compulsory pre-requisites for this workshop. It offers the chance to build on skills previously gained through courses such as the Sports Leaders UK Level 1, 2 and 3 awards; national governing bodies of sports awards; and youth and community qualifications.

LTA TENNIS TEACHERS COACHING QUALIFICATION -18th NOV 2017

Interested in becoming a sports teacher, helping out at your local club or just have a keen interested in tennis, then this is an excellent opportunity to and a very reduced cost of only £20 per person instead of £40.

The course run by the LTA will cover the basics of tennis and an array of games and techniques link to primary and secondary school tennis.

There is also the opportunity to gain some valuable experience through linking in our sports coach internship programme what you will help deliver sessions to primary school children, tailored around your timetable, via shadowing an experienced coach.

Staffs Uni – Sports Coaching Internship (Multi -Skills)

Staffordshire University – Active Staffs Internship Programmes offer you the opportunity to make a difference to young children within schools and clubs in the local community. The free coaching qualifications, training and mentoring, gained from shadowing experience coaches, allows you to develop as a coach and provides you with the valuable experience employers are looking for when apply for future jobs.

Info: Our Multi-Skills Internship has been successfully running for the last 10 years, linked closely with our partners ASM. Successful applicants will be put in to groups where there will assist and deliver a variety of activities alongside the experienced coaches of ASM, improving children’s ability, balance and coordination (ABC’s).
