Handball Activator Coaching Course (Saturday 24th November 2018)

Staffordshire University have teamed up with England Handball and Street Games to offer students this excellent opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding and gain valuable experience within Handball.

Who is it for:
This course is great for those who are working in settings such as; Community sport project leaders, coaches and volunteers that deliver within schools, FE, HE and the wider community

Course: Handball Activator Course
Date: Saturday 24th November 2018 (cost £50 pp)
Time: 10am -1pm
Venue: Staffordshire University (Sir Stanley Matthews Sports Centre)

Course Content:

England Handball has launched its new Handball course for people who want to take handball into schools, colleges or the wider community.
Participants who complete the course will be able to use handball to increase activity and improve well-being.

The course takes participants through Try Handball as a mechanism to deliver community handball. Try Handball is England Handball’s small-sided version of the game. It can be played in pretty much any available space and is designed for people new to the sport.

Participants combine their existing coaching and leadership skills and experience with the games and challenges throughout the course to learn how to engage young people in handball for the first time.

By the end of the workshop attendees will be able to;
1. Understand handball and the fundamental skills needed to play.
2. Deliver basic handball activities to groups of young people.
3. Understand and apply basic rules of handball.
4. Organise handball challenges and social competitions..

Course prerequisites:
There are no compulsory pre-requisites for this workshop. It offers the chance to build on skills previously gained through courses such as the Sports Leaders UK Level 1, 2 and 3 awards; national governing bodies of sports awards; and youth and community qualifications.

Port Vale Foundation is looking to appoint a number highly motivated part time coaches to join the developing foundation team throughout its community programmes on a casual basis.

You will be involved in the delivery across all themes the foundation delivers. These include Sports participation, Football Development, Education, Social Inclusion, Health and Disability

All successful candidates must hold a minimum NGB level 1 sporting qualification, an in date FA safeguarding protecting children and First Aid certificate.  All coaches will be required to be a member of the FA licensed coaches club holding an enhanced DBS certificate or subject to an enhanced DBS check prior to commencing.

The candidate must understand the importance of planning, delivering and evaluation projects and have a passion for community engagement through the vehicle of a professional Football Club.

The role of the Business and Administration Apprentice will be to work innovatively alongside the associations Participation Officers to help with a wide variety of administrative tasks including; data input, answering calls, administering leagues, distributing resources, promoting programmes and generic administration tasks. The successful applicant will support all areas of Association to support continued growth of all areas of football participation, providing football for all.

LEVEL 2 IN THE PRINCIPLES & PREPERATIONS OF COACHING SPORT

1st4sport Qualifications

If you want to progress in your coaching career, then look no further. Here at Staffordshire University we are hosting a Level 2 in the Principles and Preparations of Coaching Sport

Registration Deadline: Thursday 8th Nov 2018 

This qualification is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge required to enable you to understand participants and their needs, develop your knowledge of coaching sport and requires you to demonstrate practical coaching skills inclusive of assisting with the delivery of broader coaching sessions. The qualification is composed of five mandatory units.

The qualification is recognised as the industry standard level 2 qualification for the principles of coaching sport by UK Coaching. It is also recognised by and has the support of a range of providers including FE colleges.

This qualification leads to further learning or training in the area of coaching sport. This qualification may lead to paid or voluntary roles in coaching a specific sport should the learner progress to a sports specific coaching qualification.

The skills and knowledge developed through this qualification may also be used to enable you to progress to other industry-relevant qualifications in coaching other sports, activity leadership, supporting Physical Education in school sport and sports development.

The qualification sits within a suite of progressive principles for coaching sport qualifications and leads directly into the 1st4sport Level 3 Award in the Principles for Coaching Sport qualification.

FA LEVEL 1 IN COACHING FUTSAL – LAST FEW PLACES REMAINING (8TH DEC 2018)

Course Content:

Theory:

  • Develop an appreciation and understanding of the basic techniques related to coaching Futsal
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the underlying fundamental principles related to the game of Futsal
  • Display a basic understanding of the Futsal Laws of the Game
  • Develop an understanding of Futsal as a standalone game in its own right and the significant variances from conventional 5-a-side
  • Develop an awareness of the part Futsal can play in the development of young players

Practical involvement:

  • Candidates will be encouraged to participate practically to maximise their opportunities for learning (however inability to participate will not prevent successful completion of the award)

Course aims and objectives:

The aim of this course is to provide candidates with an understanding of the techniques and skills related to the game of Futsal. This course will help candidates organise and deliver basic Futsal practices. It will also provide candidates with an introduction to the structure of the game, the laws and the role Futsal can play in developing underlying techniques and skills.

An Amazing Goal Keeper Coaching & Qualification Opportunity

Programme information:

Manchester’s FA Women’s High Performance Football Centre is running an exciting new programme alongside England Women’s Development Lead Goalkeeping coach Jamie Annerson that will provide 18 male or female University students across the NW the opportunity to complete a fully funded FA Level 1 in Coaching Goalkeepers.

The FA Women’s High Performance Football Centre is looking to recruit and develop the next generation of Goalkeeping Coaches to support the development of the women and girls game. All 18 places will be fully funded by the FA WHPFC, with 5 candidates

also selected to gain a year’s work placement and mentoring with their closest situated Regional Talent Club within the North West (Manchester City Women, Manchester United Women, Blackburn Rovers Ladies, Liverpool Ladies or Everton Ladies).

All applicants will be given the opportunity to work in the goalkeeping field, either through the internal or community delivery of the University Grassroots Hub, or through the RTC GK Coach Development Programme. The 5 candidates selected for the RTC GK Coach Development Programme will also have the opportunity to be mentored by each clubs RTC Goalkeeper Coach and will also be given a bespoke Coach Development Programme throughout the year.
