In December 2019, 70 years after NATO was founded, NATO Heads of State and Government will meet in London – the Alliance’s first home. Come and meet some of the people who work on NATO in HMG to find out what’s happening and why it matters – AND hear about careers in diplomacy, pol-mil… and more!

 The Civil Service is divided into departments, which deal with areas such as education, health and defence. Most departments have their own agencies dealing with specialist subjects. Whatever your passion – from the environment to international development, there’s a department or agency to match. Three civil servants from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and MoD will brief on their careers in Her Majesties Government  to date, talk about the range of careers available, including options for entry.

This is your opportunity to ask any questions you might have about careers in Her Majesties Government . All are welcome! The Civil Service attracts people from the full spectrum of disciplines/subject areas. Whatever discipline/subject you study, this talk will be of interest to you.

FA Level 1 in Coaching Futsal

The FA Level 1 in Coaching Futsal is a vocational course that provides you with an opportunity to develop an awareness of both the practical and theoretical aspects of Futsal coaching.

You will gain an insight into the game in England, how it is played and how you can coach to better support the development of future players.

Introduction to the course objectives, programme and expectations of learners

Introduction to game of Futsal – its history, recent development and participation

The FIFA Futsal Laws of the game

Tutor-led practical coaching sessions that covers the following topics: control, passing, shooting, defending, player movement/fainting and travelling with the ball

Review of the practical activities and consolidation of the learning outcomes

Next steps, personal action plan, feedback and evaluation

OUTCOMES

This course will provide you with an understanding of the techniques and skills related to the game of Futsal. By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • List the 6 core technical strands of the game
  • Identify 6 key area relating to the laws of the game
  • Describe the current development pathways and estimated participation rates in England

 

LTA Secondary School and Cardio Tennis Course

Tennis is a great game at any level. But the more you advance, the more challenging and rewarding it becomes.

Staffordshire University has teamed up with the LTA to provide high quality, focused training for FE  and HE students, as well as teachers to inspire and stimulate every young person by deliverig innovative formats of the game, including Cardio Tennis, Timed Tennis and Team Tennis. 

The LTA Secondary School and Cardio Tennis course has been developed to give you the confidence and skills you need to deliver both traditional and modified versions of the game as well as being provided with valuable resources to enhance your deliver, within the local community and a school environment.

UK COACHING: SAFEGUARDING & PROTECTING CHILDREN WORKSHOP

The workshop is 3 hours long and will be held on Monday 2nd December, 2019 between 18:00 – 21:00 at Staffordshire University’s Leek Road Campus (room LT114/6). This accredited UK Coaching workshop will help coaches recognise poor practice and the red flags of abuse, while also prompting a review of your coaching practice to ensure that you provide a positive and enriching experience for all children. Handball 

England Handball has launched its new Handball Activator course for people who want to take handball into schools, colleges or the wider community.

Participants who complete the course will be able to use handball to increase activity, and improve well-being.

The course takes participants through Try Handball as a mechanism to deliver community handball. Try Handball is England Handball’s small-sided version of the game. It can be played in pretty much any available space and is designed for people new to handball.

Dodgeball: 

t is our belief at British Dodgeball that the training we provide will enable coaches and those working with groups to empower people from all different walks of life to be healthy, active and enjoy the full benefits of sport and physical activity.

This Award not only provides candidates with a knowledge of the sport, but also on how to work with different participants, how to be inclusive and provides an understanding of the importance of a positive well-being, improving self-esteem and taking part.

WHO WE ARE: Futsal Factory has been operating youth futsal programs throughout the greater Sacramento area for over 10 years and is the only official US Youth Futsal organization in the area. Our coaching staff work with youth players ranging in age from 3 to 18, and ranging in skill level from beginner to advanced, high-level comp players.

Our coaching staff is comprised of both domestic and international coaches, with high levels of coaching and playing expierence. The most important skill that our coaches have is an enthusiasm and passion for the sport and for teaching the sport to youth players.

Our goal is to provide children of all ages and abilities with the highest quality soccer training. We work hard to ensure that all participants develop their skills and knowledge of the game as much as possible during our tuition. Participants are continually challenged through the use of specially design games and exercises which will help dramatically improve both technical skills and their tactical knowledge of the game.

 

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR: Professional coaching staff who meet the minimum qualifications (recognized national futsal coaching license and at least 2 years playing and coaching futsal) & those that demonstrate self-motivation, enthusiasm for the sport, professional demeanor, and a high level of responsibility.

All coaching staff will coach all program levels, from beginner to advanced. Coaching staff must be familiar and capable of coaching to a high-level of skill within the youth futsal program. Coaches must be comfortable and/or willing to learn coaching techniques specific to age and ability of participants, including those at a very young age.

  • Up to 40 hours per week – Coaching & Admin.

  • Responsibilities – Work with players between the ages of 3-18 and coach teams as part of the Futsal Factory Development Academy.

Emergency First Aid at Work by Nuco Training [£45] – 4th Oct Deadline to Register Interest

Emergency First Aid at Work

This year just before you graduate we are looking at having Nuco Training come in and deliver Emergency First Aid at Work with some extra sport specific content such as head injuries.

Dependent on the amount of you who would like to join the course will depend on price but at full price it is £45 for a full day.

At the end of it you will be certified by an accredited agency which will massively help you towards finding a job once you graduate. I would say this is essential for most of you who want to go into a sports industry job.

We have highlighted two weeks in the form which we would like to run this. If there are lots of you who want to do this the group will be split across a few days in that week therefore I cannot give you a specific date at the moment.

Level 2 Qualification in Sports Leadership *FREE*

Level 2 Qualification in Sports Leadership

The Level 2 Qualification in Sports Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that enables successful learners to lead groups of people in sport/activity, under indirect supervision.

The qualification teaches generic leadership skills such as organisation, planning, communication and teamwork through the medium of sport within the community. It is a fun and practical qualification with no entrance requirements or final examinations to sit.

You do not need any qualifications to attend the course but it is recommended that you have a basic knowledge of sport & physical activity and interest in sports coaching and leadership.

Date: Monday 28th October to Friday 1st November 2019

Time: 9.30-4pm each day

Location: Fenton Manor Sports Complex, Stoke-on-Trent

Cost: FREE (a deposit of £32 plus booking fee is required. However, the course cost of £32 will be reimbursed upon completion of the course and volunteering hours).

Age: 16+

 

Volunteering Hours

You will be required to complete 12 hours volunteering for School Games Events and Competitions.

You will also be required to complete 10 hours volunteering for the qualification (where these hours are completed will determine which qualification you receive). There is the possibility of combining the above and you will be supported to do this.
