Emphasis and Approach

Each work streams identified by Staffordshire Police Forensics contains a variety of topic areas that require additional research and development through the partnership. The Contemporary Issues part of the stream is overarching across all streams in the partnership. This workstream has additional members to provide some resilience and the ability to assist other streams where required. By its very nature it allows flexibility to deal with an emerging theme or piece of work.  Some are reactive and others proactive, the areas identified for this work stream are listed below:

  • Ongoing Research and development – Develop new R&D opportunities to feed into other work streams

Helpful Definitions

Drugs Identification: The analysis of an unknown substance to determine if it is illegal under the Misuse of Drugs Act (1971).

ISO (International Orgainistation for Standardisation) 17025: An international standard set by the European Council. It is used in the accreditation of testing and calibration laboratories to confirm and recognise the competence of the Organisation and its associated processes.
