Peter Hooper is the founder and managing director of Cox Bank Publishing (CBP), a not-for-profit company specialising in producing and publishing books which celebrate sports-writing. The company’s core aims are to: encourage more people to write about their enjoyment of sport; inspire and motivate people to take up sport – or try a new sport; and support schools in using sports-writing as a tool for literacy.
At the heart of CBP’s business model is the desire to put something back into sport. A proportion of the proceeds from each book sold goes to an appropriate (and often local) charity. CBP will also accept commissions from organisations with an interest in sport, social enterprise and/or corporate social responsibility – e.g. producing tailored publications celebrating the contribution a company’s employees make to local sports clubs, or employee fund-raising for charity via sports challenges.
