COVID Return to Practice

Welcome to this short “Return to Practice” programme provided by Staffordshire University and the Institute of Biomedical Science. This programme has been designed to support Biomedical Scientists rejoining the temporary HCPC register following retirement or otherwise de-registering, and aims to provide you with a brief overview of the regulatory framework covering this period, and to act as a ‘refresher’ of the professional skills, knowledge, and behaviors required for professional practice.

On behalf of everyone at the IBMS and Staffordshire University, we thank you for answering the call for assistance during these unprecedented times. We also acknowledge the amount of knowledge and experience that you are bringing back to the profession, and we are sure that this will be pivotal in supporting the health service response to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

We recognise that you are experienced Biomedical Scientists, and so this programme only provides a ‘light touch’ approach, focussing upon issues that may be useful in your role in supporting this current situation. The programme consists of 7 modules, and echoes the themes and HCPC Standards covered within elements of the current IBMS Registration Portfolio.

The course is delivered through ‘Blackboard CourseSites’, a free online learning platform. On clicking the link below, you will first be prompted to set up a free registration and user log-in.
