Competition guidelines 2021

Think you have what it takes to be the next shining star of journalism?

We have the perfect opportunity for you.

The Future Journalist Awards 2021 is your chance to showcase your talent and win some great prizes. Organised by Staffordshire University, the annual competition aims to discover the next generation of journalists.

Do you have a passion for writing, or an interest in creating videos or podcasts? To survive and thrive in the modern world of media, today’s journalists have to embrace digital technology.

Select a topic that interests you, or something you’re passionate about. Choose between submitting a piece of written content, such as an article, review or blog, or creating a short video or audio clip using a smartphone. We can only accept individual not group entries.

If you are shortlisted for your category, you will be invited to a special awards day in March 2021, whether this is at Staffordshire University or streamed remotely will be confirmed at a later date.

There will be three winners per age category:

  • Best written content
  • Best vlog
  • Best audio

The winners will all receive:

  • £50 Amazon voucher
  • Your name and winning entry published on the StaffsLive website
