Your Student Union

Hello,

It’s so great to be back. I hope you had a brilliant Christmas and a wonderful start to the new year. Right now as we speak, I am back in Stoke and just finished unpacking my computer and the endless supply of food which has currently invaded my room (Thank you mum!).

It feels odd being back at university. It doesn’t feel like I have been gone for a month, more like a year or so yet here I am, preparing to get back to my busy schedule and doing what I love most — Working on the radio!

Now, that’s enough about me because I have something rather important to tell you. I am going to tell you about the Student Union.

The Student Union is something I have noticed that not many students are aware of despite being directly in front of them.header_img_logo2

I am going to be honest with you and tell you straight away that life at university can have its ups and downs. That’s just how life goes. However, the Student Union has played such a pivotal role in my university experience and has given me guidance when I needed it the most. The SU is there to offer YOU support whenever you need the most. While no, that does not mean that they’ll do your assignment for you, they will aid you with any problems and guide you in the right direction if they can’t offer you a specific service. I have seen a whole variety of topics being brought up at the SU including accommodation, mental health problems, finance and even course related issues. Every issue that was brought to the attention of the SU had been made a priority and was handled well, with students being offered help in whatever shape and form possible.

University can be a daunting experience for some. However, YOU are not alone. There is always someone that will listen to you regardless of the situation in which you may find yourself.

Peace.

I’m Jaz! You’ve arrived at my blog about life through a 22-year old’s eyes. I’ve chosen Staffs to take the first steps for my career within the radio industry and hope it will lead me to being a sound designer and produce Radio Dramas/Documentaries for the BBC! I love drinking copious amounts of green tea and watching classic Doctor Who episodes. I’m #ProudToBeStaffs because of the amount of banter! Students – listen up - get involved with as much as you can. University tends to flyby when you are having fun.
