Introduction to Erasmus+

Erasmus+ is the new EU Programme for education, training, youth and sport. Staffordshire University are running an Erasmus+ workshop on Wednesday 9 April 9:30-12:30. The new programme presents an excellent source of funding to develop a variety of projects in partnership with organisations across Europe. The workshop will be an opportunity to gain a better understanding of what activities can be carried out so we can ensure the Universities capitalises on this new resource.

 

Erasmus+ Started on 1 January 2014 and will run till 2020. The programme supports activities in education, training, youth and sport across all sectors of lifelong learning including Higher Education, Further Education, adult education, schools and youth activities.

 

The deadlines for the 2014 calls are coming up in the next few weeks. This workshop is timed to get people thinking ahead to the 2015 calls.

 

The workshop will be in the LT114/116, Ashley Building, Stoke. Members of staff from all faculties are encouraged to attend. To book a place please email exteranlfundingofficer@staffs.ac.uk

Funding for Staffordshire companies

Staffordshire companies are being invited to share part of a £3 million funding pot awarded through the Regional Growth Fund. The funding is available until March 2015 and aims to create more than 170 jobs in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire. This funding programme is being run by Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Staffordshire University is one of the project partners providing support to local companies to help with business expansion.

The ‘Innovative Growth in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire’ fund will be providing capital grants to companies for premises or the purchase of new equipment, consultancy, market development, research development and innovation to bring new products to market.  Staffordshire University’s involvement is being led by Naomi Arblaster, Commercial Funding Manager based in our Enterprise and Commercial Development department.  Please help us to promote this opportunity to your contacts.

Getting up to Speed on European Funding

Special guest, Eevi Laukkanen, will be coming to Staffordshire University on 11 December 2013. Eevi is from UKRO in Brussels and will be talking about the new European funding streams being launched in January 2014.

The new funds include:

  • Horizon 2020, the replacement for FP7 which funds research and innovation
  • Erasmus+, funding education and vocational training scheme.

 

Horizon 2020 is the EU funding programme for research and innovation. The official start for the programme is 1 January 2014. There are opportunities for individual researchers and groups of researchers to apply for funding.

Erasmus+ consolidates education and vocational training schemes into one programme, with the addition of Sport. Erasmus+ will replace the Lifelong Learning Programme, Youth in Action, Erasmus Mundus, ALFA III, TEMPUS EDULINK in one over-arching scheme.

The Universities External Projects Team will be hosting the event in the Ashley Building Stoke. We do not have full details of the schedule yet, but for now we would like you to save the date in your diary.

Arts Music Craft Community Engagement

Arts Council England – small grants to support community organisations

Arts Council England are looking to support community organisations to widen participation in the arts. Staffordshire is currently underrepresented in terms of funding and applications are especially welcome from community organisations in the county. Small grants for up to £10,000 are available on a rolling application basis with a six week turn around for decisions.  Contact externalprojects@staffs.ac.uk if you are interested.
