Professorship and Associate Professorship Call 2016 – Advisory Session

cropped-theprofessorisinrevised-banner-FACEBOOK-CopyTo support the Professorship/Associate Professorship call announced by the Vice Chancellor in January, Dr Steve Wyn Williams will run an advisory session to guide prospective applicants on the conferment process and criteria.

The session will be held on:-

  • Wednesday 9th March at 11.00 am in Cadman Executive Boardroom, Cadman Building, Stoke

The session will run for two hours.

In order to ensure that there is sufficient time for questions and discussion, attendance will be capped at twenty-five members of staff. If necessary an additional session will be arranged before 4th April deadline for applications .

Places must be booked and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. To book a place, please email  your request to researchservices@staffs.ac.uk by no later than 4th March 2016

Do you think that your research or research within your faculty has the potential to have a commercial impact?

If so please book an appointment!

Please distribute the attached poster widely to your colleagues, and also to students undertaking research degrees (Masters and Doctorates).

It is important that individuals are rewarded for the development of any intellectual property that arises from work carried out within the University, patents and spin-out companies are ways to accomplish this. Creative industries are also important to producing a balanced commercial output, and can be protected using copyright.

Sessions will be held on Thursdays in August and September, with appointments from 1pm.

Please encourage your colleagues to come along, so that by patenting inventions and delivering spin-out companies the University can continue to provide accountability for public investment in research and further improve the reputation of individuals and the institution.

Introduction to Erasmus+

Erasmus+ is the new EU Programme for education, training, youth and sport. Staffordshire University are running an Erasmus+ workshop on Wednesday 9 April 9:30-12:30. The new programme presents an excellent source of funding to develop a variety of projects in partnership with organisations across Europe. The workshop will be an opportunity to gain a better understanding of what activities can be carried out so we can ensure the Universities capitalises on this new resource.

 

Erasmus+ Started on 1 January 2014 and will run till 2020. The programme supports activities in education, training, youth and sport across all sectors of lifelong learning including Higher Education, Further Education, adult education, schools and youth activities.

 

The deadlines for the 2014 calls are coming up in the next few weeks. This workshop is timed to get people thinking ahead to the 2015 calls.

 

The workshop will be in the LT114/116, Ashley Building, Stoke. Members of staff from all faculties are encouraged to attend. To book a place please email exteranlfundingofficer@staffs.ac.uk

Bid writing training to support updated university policy

Following the recent Staffordshire University Research, Enterprise and Advanced Scholarship Committee our Advanced Scholarship Policy has been updated.  Now academic colleagues submitting funding proposals for research grants or knowledge transfer projects are able to count their proposal as a scholarly output. 

In order to support colleagues in their bid writing activities, a number of workshops have been arranged for FCES staff.  We still have a few places available and are able to offer these to colleagues from across the University.  Details are below.  If you would like to reserve a place, please contact us via externalprojects@staffs.ac.uk.  These sessions will also be offered during Staffs Fest.

Culture Programme Workshops

There will be 12 Briefing sessions on the new Creative Europe programme, held between 13-31 January, in 12 venues across England, Scotland and Wales. Sessions closest to Staffordshire University are in Birmingham, Bradford, Liverpool or Nottingham.  Each Briefing will run for 2 hours, and will provide background information on Creative Europe, as well as detailed information on the new Culture programme strands (projects, translation, platforms, networks) and some information on the new Media programme. Sessions cost £80.

There will also be workshops to help people prepare applications between 3-6 February. In Manchester, Cardiff, Edinburgh and London. They cost £100.
