Why did you choose your subject/course?
At school I always found that I was a more practical student and also loved doing maths (odd and weird I know!). Combined with my educational interests/strengths I decided to look for a career that would keep me stimulated and be something I had a passion for and my one love is the theme park industry From this I knew I wanted to go into a career in something practical and maths based within the theme park industry and what better than Engineering.
Why did you choose Staffordshire University?
I loved the campus, how it is close enough to the city centre to be convenient but not too central that it’s peaceful and relaxing. The country side is a 10/15 minute drive away and is beautiful in all weather and for me the perfect atmosphere to study in. Most importantly for me though was the strong links to engineering within the area with JCB, Bentley and Alton Towers all close, which gives me great options for placements and experience.
What do you hope to do when you graduate?
I’d like to go to work in the theme park industry, to have the opportunity to work on the next great rides for people to enjoy and experience.
One piece of advice you would give to prospective University students
Choose a course that interests you and you won’t get bored or uninterested in. This is because some lectures can be long but if you have a passion and interest in the course you’re studying, you will enjoy them.
An interesting fact about you
I used to be a competitive gymnast for nine years until I broke my ankle in two places and struggled to take intense impact on it.
Most treasured possession
My car. It’s my freedom.
Favourite TV series / Film / Book
My favourite series would have to be two and half men, film is Batman Dark knight which has to have some of the best film sequences I’ve ever seen and not to mention I know it word for word…sad I know. My fave book would have to be Sir Alex Ferguson’s Autobiography.
