Information sessions for Erasmus+ newcomers

New to Erasmus+? Register for an information session

The UK National Agency are pleased to announce a series of information sessions on the Erasmus+ programme in the UK. The purpose of these events is to provide an overview of the funding opportunities available under Erasmus+ and is intended for newcomers to Erasmus+. There is no charge to attend but places are limited.

Who should attend?

The sessions are for any organisation in the UK working in the sectors of education, training, youth or sport. They are aimed at organisations new to Erasmus+, including anyone who has not yet applied for funding but would like to know more about the range of possibilities under the programme. If your organisation has applied before, we advise that you look out for our application support events, including webinars.

The agenda is designed to give a general introduction and overview of Erasmus+, followed by a closer explanation of the types of funding opportunities available and next steps. There will be the opportunity to meet UK National Agency staff and network over refreshments.

We will be holding information sessions in six venues across the UK, all of which are half-day events finishing around 12.30pm.

Staffordshire University is convening a one day meeting at their STOKE Campus, for other academics involved in EU projects.

  1. a) Tell other interested parties about the project they are involved in (and meet their dissemination targets)
  2. b) Learn from current or recent projects funded by the EU
  3. c) Network with experienced project coordinators for ideas and future collaborations.

Information day on European Funding for Materials and Nanotechnology, Chemistry and Manufacturing Communities

This event will give you a chance to hear insights from the European Commission on the opportunities for funding under Horizon 2020 for materials and nanotechnology, chemistry and manufacturing organisations.It is free to attend and will be held in Birmingham on 3 October.

The event will focus on the nanotechnologies, materials and production ‘NMP’ programme including the public-private partnerships SPIRE (Sustainable Process Industries through Resource Efficiency) and Factories of the Future.  In addition, Innovate UK (the new name for the Technology Strategy Board) and the Knowledge Transfer Network will highlight opportunities for support.  As part of the event, you will have the opportunity to pitch your ideas for projects to the audience and profile the expertise you have to offer as well as network with other participants.

You are warmly invited to attend the launch of “Under One Roof” a partnership project on Social Enterprise led by Keele University in conjunction with Staffordshire University.  “Under One Roof” is one of six Social Enterprise Thematic Clusters funded via a Government initiative offered by UnLtd (https://unltd.org.uk/).This strategic launch event will connect key partners who are passionate about Social Enterprise and its role in Staffordshire. It will address the following questions:

  • What is the national picture for Social Enterprise?
  • How are we responding to Social Enterprise in Staffordshire?
  • How we can all collaborate and champion Social Enterprise across the county?
  • How can organisations connect and share knowledge to raise the profile of Social Enterprise in Staffordshire?

You can expect excellent plenary speakers, including Prof Nick Foskett Vice Chancellor from Keele University and Prof Michael Gunn Vice Chancellor from Staffordshire University as well as representatives from UnLtd, Prime and the YMCA.

The afternoon will offer Social Enterprise workshops as well as opportunities to meet new people and networking opportunities to shape the future of Social Enterprise in Staffordshire.

British Academy Visit to Staffordshire University

The British Academy provides funding for research in the humanities and social sciences. They have agreed to come to Staffordshire University to provide information on the variety of research funding opportunities they offer.

Delegates will learn more about the scheme requirements, success rates, what assessors look for and how best to present applications. Plus there will be some new funds opening in the next few months so this is a chance to find out about the new schemes.

This event is being held on Thursday 2 October 13:00-16:00 in LT114/116 Ashley Building, Leek Road, Stoke-on-Trent

Academics from a number of regional Universities will also be invited and a networking session will be held. Collaborative research projects are of great interest to funders, so this is a good opportunity to talk to other academics and find out how you can work together.  A member of staff from the British Academy will be on hand during the networking session to provide information on the viability of your project ideas.

Introduction to Erasmus+

Erasmus+ is the new EU Programme for education, training, youth and sport. Staffordshire University are running an Erasmus+ workshop on Wednesday 9 April 9:30-12:30. The new programme presents an excellent source of funding to develop a variety of projects in partnership with organisations across Europe. The workshop will be an opportunity to gain a better understanding of what activities can be carried out so we can ensure the Universities capitalises on this new resource.

 

Erasmus+ Started on 1 January 2014 and will run till 2020. The programme supports activities in education, training, youth and sport across all sectors of lifelong learning including Higher Education, Further Education, adult education, schools and youth activities.

 

The deadlines for the 2014 calls are coming up in the next few weeks. This workshop is timed to get people thinking ahead to the 2015 calls.

Speed Plus: for starting business and supporting business growth

If you know (students graduating this year, graduates from any year, staff or other ‘associates’ of Staffordshire University) who are interested in starting their own business and looking for dedicated support and business grants then apply NOW for the next SpeedPlus intake.

Speed Plus is a business support programme for graduates, alumni and associates of the University which provides, training, mentoring, advice and guidance on any aspect of starting a business, self-employment, freelancing and commissioning. There is also financial assistance for everybody on the programme.

Bid writing training to support updated university policy

Following the recent Staffordshire University Research, Enterprise and Advanced Scholarship Committee our Advanced Scholarship Policy has been updated.  Now academic colleagues submitting funding proposals for research grants or knowledge transfer projects are able to count their proposal as a scholarly output. 

In order to support colleagues in their bid writing activities, a number of workshops have been arranged for FCES staff.  We still have a few places available and are able to offer these to colleagues from across the University.  Details are below.  If you would like to reserve a place, please contact us via externalprojects@staffs.ac.uk.  These sessions will also be offered during Staffs Fest.
