Blog 7 – THE FORCE AWAKENS (Shh, I know I missed out Episode 3!)
Hello fellow readers,
It’s finally done. I mean. I have timed these blogs ideally for what’s about to happen next week.
Yes! Not only do we finish this semester and go home for our Christmas break… but this Thursday marks the day that STAR WARS: Episode 7 comes out.
But funnily enough, that isn’t what this blog is about. Oh no. It’s all about Christmas shopping.
You see, I had planned with fellow blogger Rebecca (She’s great by the way) that we would go and do our Christmas shopping today in preparation for the big day itself. So, we decided to enjoy a morning walk towards Hanley town centre with the delusional idea that ‘it won’t be as busy’ as kindly reassured by Rebecca. In reality… it was busy. Everywhere I looked, there was Christmas music, Christmas decorations, and Christmas people… you name it. There was also a Christmas market, which we both spent idly enjoying the sight of chocolate covered apples, cinnamon buns and Italian hog (Okay, the last one was just me… it’s important to mention that Rebecca is a vegetarian… so you get the picture.)
After a wonderful walk around the market we decided to make our way towards the looming shopping centre. As soon as we walked in, we were surrounded with so much décor in time for the festivities. Christmas music was playing from all angles. Not that I minded as much, much to the contrary. I love Christmas. Rebecca dragged me to every shop. Finding our secret Santa gifts in Primark, searching high and low for presents for our families and nearly being seduced to purchase cinnamon pretzels. Trust me, we made at least two stops to try the free samples that were at offer.
When it comes to Christmas shopping, it is always important to make sure that you have a general idea of what to get for people. Now, Rebecca was very organized and precise…. Me on the other hand… not as much. I had spent a majority of my time just standing in each store, stroking my beard and wondering ‘What would they like?’ In the end, I had decided to just do my shopping online.
One thing I did rather enjoy about today was the fact that it was a nice break from doing assessments and essays. It was nice to be able to enjoy December in a whole. I love university, I really do. You learn and experience a lot however you do need a time to be able to enjoy the festivities and breaks when they come. Until the next time.
Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!
Peace.
