Monkey Forest

A little monkey in a tree at the Monkey Forest with its tongue sticking outWith winter now behind us and the weather getting better lots of attractions around Staffordshire are starting to open again for the summer season.
One of my personal favourites is the Monkey Forest at the Trentham Estate. Here you can walk around the forest with 140 Barbary Macaques roaming freely playing in the trees and generally having fun. I could spend all day in the forest just watching and taking pictures of them just being Monkeys.

Every hour they feed a group of monkeys and talk about the monkeys with different facts about them to the point that the keepers know the names of the monkeys (all 140 of them).

There’s a cafe and picnic areas outside the enclosure so you really can spend an entire day in the sun relaxing and seeing monkeys – can you tell how much I like the monkeys yet.

Monkey Forest is open now until October, if you remember your student card then you get a student discount. You can get there within less than 20 minutes from either Stafford or Stoke-on-Trent by car with free parking, or you could get the 101 from Hanley or Stafford Town Centre. If you’re family are coming up to visit then this is a brilliant place to take them.

So before I go on about the Monkeys too much i’ll leave you with some more pictures of them and their enclosure.
