I can definitely say that University has changed me in a good as well as a bad way. Let’s get the negative out of the way shall we?
Being away at University and having to fend for myself in terms of cooking and cleaning has made me very lazy when I get home. When my older sister was away at University and would come home, she barely ever did anything and me and my younger sister used to get so frustrated because we’d have to pick up the slack, but now being away I understand completely lol! When you’re so used to your parents doing everything for you and then you’re left to do it all yourself once you get back to your comfort zone you don’t want to do what you’ve been doing when there’s someone else who can do it all for you (terrible I know).
University has made me much closer to my Mum, especially third year which is something I am very happy about. Being away and not being able to see her for months at a time isn’t something I’m used to (I still cry when she goes abroad) and it’s made me appreciate how much she does for me. I used to have a big attitude problem at home but since being here I rarely ever argue with my Mum.
Looking back at who I was in first year and who I am now I am proud to say that I have grown up a lot; personally and academically. First year I was constantly partying and missing lectures due to hangovers and this year I’m always at home getting work done and going to my lectures every week unless I’m genuinely ill.
I couldn’t be happier with the women I’m becoming 🙂
