C3’s Rebecca Nunes provides lens-based expertise to Staffordshire Police

A team involving C3 members are planning to present their work at a 2026 Forensics Partnership Conference on January 20th. Lens-based researcher Rebecca Nunes worked as part of a University Forensics Partnership with Staffordshire Police.

Associate Professor Becky Nunes led on this Enterprise project, with key outcomes being:

  • Rigorous testing of mirrorless technology DSLR camera kits.
  • Provision of recommendations around the purchase of new equipment for forensic officers at Staffordshire Police.
  • Integration of new mirrorless kit into Force procedural work, including the development of new protocols for use in the field.
  • Bespoke camera skills training developed and delivered by university staff to 5 x cohorts across 2025.
  • Training developed and delivered.

Following the success of this pilot, Staffordshire Police are committed to a four-year plan of development and delivery with the university.

There is also significant potential for this training to be expanded and delivered to other forces across the region.

“I have recently attended the Staffordshire Police/Staffordshire University partnership CPD photography course & without exception, this has been the best photography course I have attended during my thirty-four years within Forensic Investigation. “ Andy Johnson, Forensic coordinator, Staffordshire Police.
