Dr Caroline Sturdy Colls presented her work at Treblinka at the Archaeology of Violence: Wartime Violence, Mass Violence conference this month. Her paper, entitled “Mapping Nazi Terror: Archaeological Investigations at Treblinka Extermination and Labour Camps” outlined the results of her work at the extermination and labour camps. The conference was organised by the National Institute of Preventive Archaeological Research (INRAP) and the Louvre-Lens Museum in France. It was attended by a number of eminent speakers from around the world who are working in areas where they find evidence of violence in the archaeological record. The proceedings of the conference will be available in 2015. More details about the conference can be found on the INRAP website.
