The forensic archaeologist will support and advise on search strategies, identify appropriate methods and resources, and work closely with crime scene personnel in order to maximise recovered evidence in a methodical, cost-effective and rapid manner. In addition, the skills of the forensic archaeologist also have an important emerging role in formal exhumations and the review process as part of cold cases.
Based at Staffordshire University in Stoke-on-Trent, the Centre of Archaeology offers a wide range of forensic archaeological services to police forces and private clients across the United Kingdom. Staff from the Centre have experience in a number of high profile cases and can be deployed at short notice to assist in search, recovery and laboratory-based examinations.
